SBI has signed a letter of association with Bisleri International to run responsible plastic waste management across the bank's branches and offices, under Bisleri's Bottles for Change initiative.

  • Partners: State Bank of India and Bisleri International Pvt Ltd
  • Instrument: a letter of association, not a commercial supply arrangement
  • Activity: training and awareness for SBI employees and housekeeping staff
  • Operations: collection of used plastic waste from SBI offices and routing it for recycling
  • Targets referenced: India's net zero goal of 2070, and SBI's own net zero target of 2055

What The SBI And Bisleri Programme Involves

Three practical pieces. Bisleri will run training and awareness sessions for SBI employees and housekeeping staff on responsible plastic waste management, collect used plastic waste from SBI offices, and send it for recycling.

Bottles for Change is Bisleri's programme for engaging institutions, housing societies, corporates and communities on responsible plastic waste management. Applying it inside the country's largest bank is a question of scale rather than novelty: the mechanics are simple, and the value comes from the number of premises and people involved.

How Each Side Framed The Partnership

Ravi Ranjan, managing director for risk, compliance and stressed assets resolution at State Bank of India, positioned it as workplace culture rather than corporate reporting. "We believe that when employees are empowered to make responsible choices, that awareness extends well beyond our offices and into the communities that we serve and are a part of," he said, linking it to India's Viksit Bharat 2047 ambition.

Dr Angelo George, chief executive of Bisleri International, was more explicit about the intent to replicate it. "Our partnership with State Bank of India brings together the reach of one of India's largest institutions and Bisleri's experience through Bottles for Change to encourage responsible segregation, collection and recycling of used plastic," he said. "We believe this collaboration can become a scalable model for corporate participation in advancing a circular economy for plastics." SBI has set a net zero target across scopes one, two and three for 2055, its centenary year. More brand news.
