upGrad has rebranded its network of Learning Support Centres as upGrad X, under the descriptor "the offline Xperience", and widened their brief from academic support to career-linked learning and placement outcomes.

  • Company: upGrad
  • New name: upGrad X, the offline Xperience
  • Leadership: Pamit Anand, CEO, upGrad X
  • Track record cited: More than 500 placements over the last three quarters

What upGrad X Changes

The centres were set up to support learners on upGrad's online programmes. Under the new name, each combines a physical learning space with upGrad's digital platform, offering in-person mentorship, proctored assessments, hands-on training, peer learning and career preparation.

The programme range is widening across data, tech, AI and marketing, with new courses including AI Pro and a Certification in Global and Investment Banking Operations.

The Employability Pitch

The company says upGrad X has facilitated more than 500 placements over the last three quarters, across e-commerce, data analytics, AI-native businesses, IT services and global capability centres.

"Employers need people who are ready to work from day one. That is the gap upGrad X is built to close," said Pamit Anand, CEO of upGrad X. He described the change as moving "from a learning centre to an employability engine", with training, mentorship and career preparation all tied to placement outcomes.

Anand framed the gap in broader terms: "India's employability gap runs across every discipline, and AI is widening it. Technical skills will matter, but so will judgment, trust and accountability, especially in fields like AI, finance and banking."

Why Rebrand Rather Than Simply Expand

The move gives what was a support function a brand of its own, and a promise the market can test. Education companies have long sold courses on outcomes; naming the physical network and attaching a placement figure to it makes the outcome the product.

The harder question is scale. The announcement did not say how many centres or cities the network covers, and the placement number will be watched as it grows.
