McCain Foods Elevates Aditya Krishna To Managing Director For India

Aditya Krishna, elevated to managing director of McCain Foods India after three years as the company's commercial director

Aditya Krishna has been elevated to managing director of McCain Foods India, succeeding Mainak Dhar, who moves to a new leadership role within the company.

  • Role: managing director, McCain Foods India
  • Succeeds: Mainak Dhar, moving to a new leadership role within McCain
  • Joined McCain India: more than three years ago, as commercial director
  • Earlier: nearly two decades in sales and marketing at Mondelez International, across India and Southeast Asia
  • Also moving up: Avishek Kar, elevated to commercial head, McCain Foods India

What Aditya Krishna Has Been Running

He arrived at McCain India three years ago as commercial director, working on the retail business alongside brand and consumer initiatives. Before that he spent close to two decades at Mondelez International in sales and marketing roles spanning India and Southeast Asia, which is a long apprenticeship in exactly the distribution and category building problems a frozen food business in India runs into.

In the new role he oversees the whole of McCain Foods India, including its grower partnerships and the work on French Fries potato varieties bred for Indian growing conditions. That agricultural side is the part outsiders tend to miss: a fries business in India lives or dies on whether the potato supply chain behaves, long before anything reaches a menu.

The Legacy He Says He Is Building On

"It is a privilege to lead McCain Foods India at this important stage of our journey," Krishna said. "Over the years, McCain has built a deep legacy in the country, partnering with growers, pioneering the development of French Fries potato varieties suited to Indian conditions, contributing to the growth of the food processing industry, and supporting communities through initiatives such as Project Shakti and Project Utthaan."

He added that he was grateful for the opportunity to build on that foundation and equally excited about growing the category, strengthening the McCain brand and creating long term value for growers, customers, consumers and communities. Behind him, Avishek Kar steps into the commercial head role Krishna vacates, having held multiple positions across McCain's India commercial operations. More appointments.
