Capri Sports has taken the commercial development and marketing rights to the Indian Women's League and IWL 2 for 15 years, under a partnership with the All India Football Federation. The two tiers are the top of India's women's club football structure.

  • Rights: commercial development and marketing of the Indian Women's League and IWL 2
  • Term: 15 years
  • Scope: audience building, club and player visibility, attracting brands and investment, broadcast and digital engagement
  • Season: the IWL begins on 16 October 2026 with eight clubs; IWL 2 follows from 23 October
  • Capri Sports also owns UP Warriorz, Bengal Warriors and Sharjah Warriorz, and runs Nova Sports, a grassroots-to-elite initiative for girls
  • No financial terms have been disclosed by either party

What The AIFF And Capri Sports Have Agreed

A long runway rather than a season-by-season sponsorship. Apurv Gupta, head of contact sports at Capri Sports, said the focus over the next 15 years will be on building audiences, increasing visibility for clubs and players, shaping broadcast and digital engagement, and creating meaningful opportunities for brands and partners.

Kalyan Chaubey, president of the AIFF, said the timing of the partnership is very important for women's football in India, and that the next step is to ensure that club competitions also grow in strength and professionalism. M Satyanarayan, the federation's deputy secretary general, said a long-term commercial partner will help take the league forward.

Why The Term Matters

Because the commercial problem with women's club football is not one season's sponsorship revenue, it is the absence of a reason for anyone to invest ahead of the audience. Fifteen years changes what a rights holder can do: build broadcast habits, develop player profiles and sell to brands on a horizon longer than a single campaign cycle.

Jinisha Sharma, director and promoter of Capri Sports, said women's football is entering a defining era globally, with leagues attracting new audiences, investment and cultural relevance, and called the deal a long-term commitment to building the ecosystem women's football in India deserves.

What To Watch

The commercial detail. Neither side has put a value on the rights, and the things that will decide whether the term means anything, a broadcast arrangement, title sponsors and a fixture calendar that brands can plan against, are all still to be announced. The AIFF says the 2026-27 IWL fixtures have not yet been published.
