Amazon India has confirmed that the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 will begin on 8 October. The company announced the date on its own newsroom, alongside what it calls its biggest-ever expansion of its operations network for the season.

  • Start date: 8 October 2026; no end date given
  • Prime members: up to 10% extra
  • Bank offer: 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards and EMI
  • Deal formats: Blockbuster, Top 100, Mega and 8 PM Deals, plus Buy More Save More, Exchange Mela and No Cost EMI
  • Seasonal work: more than 160,000 opportunities across 400 cities
  • New capacity: 20 fulfilment centres, 6 sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations
  • Sellers: more than 20 lakh, over 3 lakh of them added in the past year

What The Amazon Great Indian Festival Offers This Year

The familiar mechanics are all back: tiered deal formats through the day, exchange offers, no-cost EMI and a card partner, this year SBI. Prime members get up to 10% extra, and Prime Video is lining up a festive slate, which keeps the membership doing double duty through the sale.

Saurabh Srivastava, vice president of Amazon India, said customers across Bharat can expect the lowest prices of the year on crores of products, with the largest selection across premium and value products delivered within minutes, hours, the same day or the next.

The Delivery Promise Is The Real Change

Amazon says it can now deliver tens of thousands of products in minutes or hours, more than a million the same day and more than four million the next day. Its quick-commerce service, Amazon Now, is in more than 60 cities, including Jalandhar, Tirupati, Warangal, Dharwad, Vellore and Berhampur, and the company says it will reach 100 cities before Diwali.

That list of cities says more about festive retail in 2026 than any discount does. The fight has moved from price alone to speed outside the metros, where quick commerce was supposed to be uneconomic. Twenty new fulfilment centres and 150 delivery stations are the bill for making the promise hold at festival volumes.

What It Means For Brands

For advertisers, the Great Indian Festival is the year's most concentrated retail media window, and the date sets every brand's calendar. An 8 October start leaves just over two weeks to lock inventory, creative and on-platform spend, and puts the sale's peak squarely in the run-up to Diwali.
