Reliance Retail Ventures Acquires Furrl's AI-Powered Fashion Technology

Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL) has acquired the technology behind Furrl, a Bengaluru-based AI-powered styling, cataloguing and fashion discovery platform.
- Acquired: Furrl's AI Styling Engine and commerce app
- Founder: Esha Tiwary
- Furrl founded: 2022
- What it does: Turns fashion catalogues into styled outfit recommendations based on individual consumer preferences
- Stated purpose: Strengthen Reliance Retail's AI-driven discovery and personalisation across its digital and omni-channel platforms
Solving Discovery, Not Just Cataloguing
Furrl set out to fix what it saw as broken fashion discovery, starting with a catalogue focused on D2C fashion brands before building an AI Styling Engine designed to move shoppers from browsing endless catalogues to seeing complete outfits styled specifically for them.
Esha Tiwary, Founder of Furrl, said, "We built Furrl with one conviction: that fashion discovery is broken and AI can fundamentally change that. This acquisition enables our technology to reach millions of customers with Reliance Retail's scale, and is a powerful validation of what our team built."
Another AI Acquisition Inside Reliance's Retail Stack
The deal forms part of Reliance Retail's broader push to embed artificial intelligence across its consumer businesses, folding a styling and discovery layer built specifically for fashion into a retail operation that already spans grocery, electronics and multiple owned fashion brands. For a four-year-old startup, being absorbed into Reliance's scale marks a shift from serving individual D2C fashion brands to potentially powering discovery across one of India's largest retail platforms.
