Burger King Opens Its 600th India Restaurant In The City Where It Started

Burger King has opened its 600th restaurant in India, in GTB Nagar, Delhi, returning to the city where the brand opened its first Indian outlet in 2014.
- Milestone: 600th Burger King restaurant in India
- Location: GTB Nagar, Delhi
- Delhi NCR: more than 100 restaurants
- National footprint: more than 140 cities
Where Burger King Has Got To
Twelve years from the first Indian restaurant to the six hundredth, with more than a hundred of them in Delhi NCR and a presence across more than 140 cities. The spread across metros and smaller cities is the part that matters commercially: a quick service restaurant chain's economics change once it stops being a metro business, because rent, wages and the size of the catchment all move at once.
Why GTB Nagar
It is a student neighbourhood, close to Delhi University's north campus, which makes it a fairly deliberate choice for a milestone opening. The restaurant carries the standard menu including the Whopper alongside burgers, wraps, snacks, desserts and beverages.
What Restaurant Brands Asia Said
Rajeev Varman, group chief executive and whole time director at Restaurant Brands Asia, called the 600th restaurant a testament to the support of guests, vendor partners and restaurant employees, and thanked them for their contributions.
He added that every new restaurant brings the brand closer to more guests and builds relevance across markets and occasions, and that scale is creating efficiencies positioning the business for sustainable expansion and its next phase of growth.
The Menu Argument
Burger King's India run has leaned on adapting the menu rather than importing it unchanged, introducing Indian favourites alongside the global range and running limited-time offerings to keep the list moving. In a category where the competitive set is large and the visit is habitual, menu novelty does the work that advertising alone cannot. More brand news.
