SEGA Appoints Black White Orange For Angry Birds Licensing In India

SEGA has appointed Black White Orange (BWO) as its official licensing agent for Angry Birds in India.

- Scope: Apparel, accessories, stationery, back-to-school products, home, gifting, food & beverage, health and beauty
- Franchise scale: Created by Rovio Entertainment in 2009; over 5 billion game downloads; films have earned more than $500 million at the global box office
- Timing driver: The Angry Birds Movie 3 is set to release in Indian cinemas in January 2027, in English and Hindi
Betting On India's Licensing Growth
Katri Chacona, Head of Brand Licensing at Rovio, said India's young fanbase makes it an ideal market for the franchise to connect with both enthusiasts and families. Justin Scarpone, EVP and Head of Global Transmedia Group at SEGA Corporation, cited BWO's "deep understanding of the local market" as the reason behind the appointment. Mitali Desai, Co-founder & COO of Black White Orange, said the upcoming film release presents "a strong opportunity to expand the brand through a robust consumer products and promotional licensing programme."
