The Jio Canva partnership gives eligible Jio users Canva's paid design tools free for up to 12 months, claimed through the MyJio app. The offer opened to eligible users from 16 September 2026.

  • Partners: Reliance Jio and Canva
  • What: Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite, free for up to 12 months
  • Canva Pro: on the Rs 399 recharge
  • Canva Pro Lite: on the Rs 349 plan and eligible 2GB-a-day plans above Rs 349
  • How: claimed in the MyJio app
  • Included: premium templates, photos, videos and fonts, background removal, brand kit basics, print-ready exports, and on Pro the content planner and higher AI limits

What The Jio Canva Offer Actually Distributes

Not software. Canva is already free at the entry level and already widely used in India. What a bundle like this distributes is permission and habit: a paid tier arriving inside a recharge somebody was making anyway, in an app they already open, with no card and no decision.

The interesting part is the tier. Brand kits, print-ready exports and a content planner are the features a business uses, not the ones a student uses. This is aimed at the shop, the studio and the one-person service business.

What It Means For The People Who Make Advertising

The bottom of the market gets a little further out of reach, and that has been happening for a decade. A retailer who can produce a festive poster, a menu and a month of posts without commissioning anyone will keep doing it, and the work an agency or a freelance designer used to pick up in that layer keeps shrinking.

What does not shrink is the part nobody buys a subscription for. A template produces a competent poster; it does not decide what the shop is for, what to say in a month when everybody is shouting, or why one line works and another does not. That has always been the actual service, and it is now the whole service.

The Bigger Move Underneath

For Jio this is the familiar play: bundle something a user already wants into a recharge and make the plan harder to leave. Canva sets out what each tier carries in its own newsroom. For Canva it is distribution at a scale no marketing budget buys, into the market where its next few million business users live. Both get what they came for, and the small business gets a year of paid tools it did not plan to pay for. More news.
