Reddit Rolls Out For You And Following Feeds Globally

Reddit is rolling out For You and Following feeds to users worldwide, giving people a choice between a recommendation-led feed and one limited to communities they have joined. Reddit announced the update on 28 October and said it will reach users globally over the next few weeks.
- Platform: Reddit
- Change: A choice of two feeds, For You and Following
- Availability: Rolling out globally over the next few weeks
- Switching: Users can change feeds at any time
How The For You And Following Feeds Work
For You combines posts from communities a user has joined with recommendations related to their interests. Reddit says it is meant to help people find relevant communities and conversations they might not otherwise come across.
Following shows only posts from communities the user has joined, as a focused way to catch up on those groups. Reddit said millions of people come to the platform every day, and the feeds are meant to help them find communities beyond the ones they already follow. Users can switch between the two whenever they like, and Reddit will open the feed they last viewed the next time they return.
What Reddit Plans Next
Reddit called the change a first step in helping drive discovery. It plans to keep experimenting with interest-based navigation and with feed controls, such as hiding posts and telling Reddit what users want to see less of, and will use that feedback to make recommendations more relevant.
Why It Matters
Reddit has historically been organised around communities that users choose to join, while most large social platforms now lead with an algorithmic feed. Offering both side by side lets Reddit push discovery without taking away the community-first view many long-time users prefer.
Reddit's announcement did not mention advertising or give usage figures for either feed. Details are in Reddit's post.
