Godrej Consumer Products Launches Bloq, Backs 500 Pink E-Rickshaws for Women Drivers

Godrej Consumer Products has announced the national launch of Godrej Bloq, its underarm deodorant and antiperspirant roll-on, pairing the debut with a partnership with the Bhamla Foundation to support the distribution of 500 Pink E-Rickshaws to women across Maharashtra.

  • Company: Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL)
  • New brand: Godrej Bloq, an underarm deodorant and antiperspirant roll-on
  • Rollout: national
  • Partner: Bhamla Foundation
  • Initiative: funding the beneficiary contribution for 500 additional Pink E-Rickshaws under the Government of Maharashtra's scheme, plus financing, training, registration and onboarding support
  • Brand tie-in: participating drivers receive Bloq Freshness Kits for long hours on the road

Tying a Product Benefit to a Real Use Case

The link between the product and the cause here is unusually direct for an FMCG launch-plus-CSR pairing: an antiperspirant is being introduced alongside women who spend long hours driving e-rickshaws, with Freshness Kits handed to those same drivers. That gives the initiative a functional logic rather than the looser thematic association these launches often settle for, where the social programme and the product category have little to do with one another.

Entering a Crowded Deodorant Category Through Format

India's deodorant market has long been dominated by sprays, making an underarm roll-on a format-led entry rather than a head-on fragrance play against established spray brands. Pairing that format choice with a state-scheme partnership also gives GCPL a launch narrative rooted in livelihood and mobility rather than the aspirational-fragrance territory most of the category advertises in, a differentiation that matters when a new brand needs a reason to be noticed beyond shelf presence and media weight.
