What Happens In The Macaw Paints Film
A man in a blue polo shirt is petting a macaw at his window when the bird turns into Kartik Aaryan in a navy suit. The homeowner is startled; the Genie is not, and plays the moment for comedy while taking the wishes. A tired grey room turns yellow, flicks through red and green as the man changes his mind, and settles back on yellow. The film ends on the Genie with a macaw on his shoulder and the brand line on screen.
The joke that carries it is the indecision. Anyone who has stood in front of a shade card knows the wish is rarely one colour, and the film turns 10,000 shades from a catalogue number into the reason the Genie keeps snapping his fingers.
Why A Genie Works For A Paint Brand
Paint advertising has always sold the after-picture. A genie is a neat way to skip the part nobody wants to see, the scraping, the drop cloths and the week of fumes, and jump straight to the finished room. It also gives the line Macaw ke rang, magic ke sang something to do: the magic stops being a rhyme and becomes the character.
Kartik Aaryan said the idea of turning someone's vision for their home into reality with a little magic makes the story relatable in the festive season, when everyone wants their home to feel special. Megha Beriwala Gupta, marketing director of Macaw Paints and Shyam Steel Group, said festivals are when people look at their homes differently, and that the brief was to keep the communication light and memorable.
Where The Campaign Goes Next
The regional cuts point to where the spend is aimed. Shyam Steel is a Kolkata-based group, and Bengali, Assamese and Odia versions alongside the Hindi film put Durga Puja, and eastern India, at the centre of the push. The brand says it will invite consumers to make their own festive home wishes through the season, which is a sensible bridge from a film about wishes to something a buyer actually does.
