Hyundai Motor India has named its upcoming SUV the Hyundai BAYON

Hyundai Motor India has named its upcoming SUV the Hyundai BAYON, and revealed the name in a 30-second film built around the line Intelligence ON. Features, pricing and positioning will follow in the coming weeks.
- Brand: Hyundai Motor India
- Model: BAYON, an SUV for the Indian market
- Film theme: Intelligence ON
- Length: 30 seconds, with a 9-second cut
- Released: 13 September 2026, on Hyundai India's YouTube channel
What Happens In The Hyundai BAYON Film
A man sits at a desk in a glass house above a city at sunset, a robotic arm working beside him. The objects around him start to lift: a VR headset, a camera lens, tablets, a smartwatch held up in the paw of a ginger cat. As they rise they come apart and rebuild as car parts, wheels, brake discs, a steering wheel and seats, before settling into five letters across the window. The last shot is the man, a small white robot and the cat, looking at the word BAYON over the skyline.
The film carries an on-screen line saying it contains AI-generated visuals, which suits the premise. The idea is that the car is the sum of the devices a buyer already lives with, and the film shows that literally rather than listing features nobody has been told yet.
Where The Name Comes From
BAYON is taken from Bayonne, a city in France's Basque Country. It is not a new name for Hyundai, which has used it for a small crossover in Europe since 2021, and the company describes the India model as a new global SUV. Managing director and CEO Tarun Garg said the aim is an experience that feels intelligent, intuitive and meaningful, with technology built into everyday driving rather than made the point of it.
Why Reveal Only A Name
A name-first teaser buys a launch several weeks of attention before there is a spec sheet to argue about. It also sets the terms early: by the time the car arrives, Hyundai wants the first word attached to it to be intelligence. More campaigns.
