DBS Bank India Turns Business Banking Into Everyday Family Stories

Ad Tribe Editorial2 min read
A family of business owners and their accountant in an everyday home setting, representing the DBS IDEAL business banking campaign

DBS Bank India has unveiled a new chapter of its DBS IDEAL campaign for business owners, built around the line There's always an IDEAL Way to Bank. Rather than the feature-led, boardroom-style messaging typical of B2B banking ads, the campaign uses eight digital films centred on a recurring cast of characters to show how banking tasks show up in the middle of an entrepreneur's regular day, at home, over meals and on the move, rather than only inside an office.

  • Brand: DBS Bank India
  • Product: DBS IDEAL, the bank's digital banking platform for businesses
  • Campaign line: There's always an IDEAL Way to Bank
  • Format: eight interconnected digital films
  • Recurring cast: a family of business owners and their accountant
  • Features highlighted: tax payments, trade finance, receivables financing, cross-border remittances and export-import regularisation
  • Setting: everyday, home-based moments rather than conventional office scenes
  • Channels: DBS Bank India's YouTube channel first, followed by digital and social media, customer engagement initiatives, relationship manager interactions and the branch network
  • Agency: conceptualised in-house, produced by Film Trotters Media

A Bet On Insight Over Feature Lists

Gaurav Rajput, Managing Director and Head, Group Marketing and Communications at DBS Bank India, said B2B communication has for decades leaned on feature-led messaging set inside corporate environments, and that this campaign was built to challenge that habit. He said the starting point was a simple insight drawn from real conversations with business owners: they don't think about banking in terms of products, they think about the tasks they need to get through while running a business, and those decisions happen at home, on the move, during meals and in the countless moments in between.

Familiar Faces, Recurring Story

Rajput said There's always an IDEAL Way to Bank brings that reality to life through familiar characters and storytelling meant to feel relatable, human and entertaining rather than transactional. He tied the approach back to the bank's broader commitment to SMEs, describing the campaign as part of DBS's ambition to be counted among the leading international banks serving small and medium businesses in India, helping them use technology to grow rather than get slowed down by it. The eight films keep the same family of business owners and their accountant across episodes, with each instalment built around one banking task, from arranging trade finance to sorting out tax payments and cross-border transfers, so the series plays out more like a running story than a set of standalone ads.
