Ankit Dhameja Joins WPP Media As SVP, Strategy, Leading Google India

Ankit Dhameja has joined WPP Media as senior vice president, strategy, leading strategy for Google India. He announced the move on LinkedIn.
- Role: senior vice president, strategy, WPP Media
- Remit: strategy for Google India
- Previously: Deloitte, in strategy and thought leadership for technology and media
- Earlier: about five years at BBC News as senior manager, data and insights
- Also: research and marketing at Network18, for CNN IBN and IBN7
- Agency start: media planning at Mindshare and Lodestar Universal
What Ankit Dhameja Will Do
Run strategy on one of the largest advertiser relationships in the country. Google is both a heavy spender in India and a platform every other client buys on, so the planning work for it sits unusually close to how the market itself is changing.
Dhameja said that as AI reshapes consumer behaviour, marketing and the media ecosystem, he is particularly excited about helping translate that change into clear strategic direction, scalable solutions and measurable business impact, and that he looks forward to partnering with teams across WPP Media and Google.
A Career Across Every Side Of Media
The path is broad. Dhameja began in media planning at Mindshare and Lodestar Universal, moved into research and marketing at Network18's news channels, spent around five years on data and insights at BBC News, and then worked at Deloitte on strategy and thought leadership for technology and media.
That mix of agency, broadcaster and consultancy is increasingly what dedicated client teams look for. A strategy lead on a technology account has to argue from data as easily as from media plans, and to speak to a client who knows the platforms better than most agencies do.
