Vitalife Picks A Fight With Modern Chaos, Not With Another Oil

Gokul Agro Resources has launched a national campaign for Vitalife, its flagship edible oil brand, that names its opponent as "Modern Chaos" rather than another oil. Conceptualised by Glassbox, it runs on the proposition "Swaad Swaad Mein Sehat".

- Brand: Vitalife, from Gokul Agro Resources Ltd
- Agency: Glassbox
- Proposition: Swaad Swaad Mein Sehat
- Films: three, in Hindi, Gujarati and Bengali, taking things Indian families habitually order in and returning them to the home kitchen
- The opponent named: "Modern Chaos", the busy lifestyles that have made eating out, ordering in and convenience-led food choices part of everyday life
- Also in the campaign: the Home-Cooked Food Index, an annual study of how many meals an Indian family still cooks at home; a creator programme across Gujarat, Punjab, Bengal and Maharashtra; and media across Meta, YouTube, OTT and CTV
What The Vitalife Campaign Argues
That the category has been having the wrong argument. Edible oil advertising has long been a contest of product attributes, one bottle against another. This campaign moves the fight to a behaviour, the drift away from cooking at home, and positions the brand on the side of the meal rather than the ingredient.
The release cites NFHS-6, under which 30.7% of Indian women and 27.3% of men are overweight or obese, against 24% and 22.9% in the previous round, and an IMARC Group estimate putting India's online food delivery market at USD 67.9 billion, up from USD 55.6 billion.
What The Brand And The Agency Say
Arun Harne, chief business officer at Gokul Agro Resources, said the company wants to encourage families to choose home-cooked food more often, and that if Vitalife can play a small part in bringing more wholesome, home-cooked meals to the table, it has done its job.
Anil Nair, co-founder of Glassbox, said creativity here is a system rather than a campaign, and that the films, the index, the creators and the shelf are one engine, built so the idea keeps working long after the launch noise has gone.
Geetanjali Bhattacharji, co-founder of Glassbox, said this is the first time the category has taken on a behaviour instead of a competitor, and that as convenience increasingly shapes the way people eat, Vitalife is bringing the focus back to home-cooked meals, putting swaad and sehat on the same plate.
Pankaj Gupta, category manager at Gokul Agro Resources, said the edible oil category has long competed on product attributes, and that with Vitalife the conversation is shifting to everyday food choices.
The Product Behind It
The Vitalife range is refined sunflower oil, kachi ghani mustard oil and refined soyabean oil, fortified with vitamins A, D and E, sold across marketplaces and general trade.
