Shashi Sinha Steps Down as Strategic Advisor at Omnicom Media India

Shashi Sinha has stepped down as Strategic Advisor at Omnicom Media India, ending a tenure that began in December 2025. He took the advisory role when Omnicom Media set out the leadership structure for its combined India operations following Omnicom's acquisition of Interpublic Group, having previously served as Executive Chairman of IPG Mediabrands India.
- Outgoing: Shashi Sinha
- Role: Strategic Advisor, Omnicom Media India
- Appointed: December 2025, as part of the post-merger India leadership structure
- Previously: Executive Chairman, IPG Mediabrands India
- Career span: nearly four decades, beginning by heading the media function at FCB Ulka
- Industry roles: Chairman of BARC India from March 2022 to August 2025, with positions at the Media Research Users Council India, the Audit Bureau of Circulations and The Advertising Club
- Recognition: AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023
A Merger Role, Now Complete
The shape of the appointment explains the exit. Strategic Advisor roles created at the point of a merger are usually transitional by design, existing to carry institutional knowledge and client relationships across the join rather than to run anything long term.
Sinha's value in that position was specific. Having led IPG Mediabrands India, he was one of the few people who understood one half of the combined business from the inside at the moment two large media organisations were being folded together. Roughly eight months on, that handover work has a natural end point.
Four Decades, and the Institutions
What distinguishes the record is how much of it sits outside agency walls. Sinha chaired BARC India for three and a half years, through a period in which television measurement in India was under sustained scrutiny, and has held positions at the Media Research Users Council, the Audit Bureau of Circulations and The Advertising Club.
Those are the bodies that decide how Indian media is counted, audited and traded. Agency leaders who also carry that measurement-side authority are rare, because the two roles pull in different directions: one buys the currency, the other governs it.
The AAAI recognised the contribution with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media APAC, acknowledged the departure, saying Sinha has made a significant contribution to Omnicom Media India and to the broader media industry.
Sinha has not announced a next move.
