The appointment is a straight lateral move within the solar manufacturing sector, from one Indian panel maker's global HR leadership to another's top HR role, at a point when domestic solar manufacturing capacity is expanding quickly and competing hard for experienced people leaders.
Chakraborty's record before solar spans some of India's better-known manufacturing and consumer names, including automotive leadership at Ashok Leyland, Royal Enfield and Eicher Polaris, and consumer goods experience at Britannia Industries and Coca-Cola India.
That mix of heavy manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods HR experience is a useful combination for a solar manufacturer scaling production while also building an employer brand in a competitive hiring market.
