Nitin Chawla, appointed executive vice president and CFO, Global Content Sales at Skydance, after his role at Warner Bros. Discovery

Nitin Chawla has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer, Global Content Sales at Skydance, the name of the combined Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. He will lead finance and strategic planning for the company's global content licensing and home entertainment businesses. Chawla announced the move on LinkedIn.

  • Company: Skydance
  • Role: EVP and CFO, Global Content Sales
  • Previously: CFO, Motion Pictures Group and Global Content Licensing/Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery
  • Earlier: The Walt Disney Company, 2008 to 2019

What Nitin Chawla Will Run

His remit covers financial operations and planning across licensing and home entertainment, including how the company's brands and franchises make money on platforms worldwide. That spans SVOD, AVOD and FAST streaming services, linear television, and newer formats such as augmented reality, virtual reality and immersive experiences.

In his post, Chawla said the portfolio has "iconic studios, beloved franchises" and exceptional creative talent, and that the opportunity is to build on those strengths with a tech-forward mindset, stronger partnerships and new audiences.

Where He Sits

Chawla joins a finance leadership team of business unit CFOs who report jointly to Skydance CFO Dennis Cinelli and to their business unit heads. That team is expected to support the company's projected $6 billion in annualised cost savings. David Decker was named president of content sales for the combined company in October.

His Career So Far

He joined Warner Bros. Discovery in 2024, after several roles at The Walt Disney Company between 2008 and 2019. His last Disney job was head of business operations, digital media. Earlier he worked at Deloitte Consulting, Tenfold Communications, Johnson & Johnson and J. Walter Thompson.

Why It Matters

Licensing is where a merged studio's library turns into revenue across rival platforms and territories. With two large catalogues now under one roof, the finance lead for content sales has a direct say in how those titles are priced and sold to the streamers and broadcasters that advertisers buy on.
