Pavithra KR Takes Over Prashant Shetty's Portfolio At JioStar

JioStar has realigned its entertainment advertising sales team, expanding Pavithra KR's mandate to cover the portfolio left behind by Prashant Shetty, who recently exited to join Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
- Expanded portfolio: Pavithra KR, Executive Vice President, Entertainment Ad Sales
- Existing charge: Hindi Movies, Kids, Niche and Youth Music Entertainment (YME)
- New addition: Free-to-Air (FTA) General Entertainment Channel (GEC) sales
- Also moving: Seethalakshmi Iyer, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Ad Sales (Tamil and Malayalam), takes over Pavithra's earlier Kids, Movies and MTV charge
- Context: Prashant Shetty exited JioStar to join Zee Entertainment Enterprises as Head, Advertisement Revenue, Broadcast & Digital
An Internal Reshuffle, Not An External Hire
JioStar has chosen to redistribute Shetty's advertising sales responsibilities among its existing leadership rather than run an external search immediately after his departure, according to people familiar with the matter. Pavithra KR, who has been overseeing ad sales across Hindi movie channels, kids programming, niche entertainment and youth-focused music brands, now also takes on Free-to-Air GEC sales, broadening her charge within the network's entertainment business.
A Parallel Move One Level Down
The reshuffle carries through a level, with Seethalakshmi Iyer, who currently handles Entertainment Ad Sales for Tamil and Malayalam, stepping into the Kids, Movies and MTV portfolio that Pavithra previously held. Industry executives reading the moves said the pattern, promoting from within rather than hiring externally, signals JioStar's preference for continuity in its ad sales leadership at a moment when a competing broadcaster has just pulled one of its senior executives away.
