Nielsen Moves Streaming Content Ratings To Daily Delivery

Nielsen has moved its Streaming Content Ratings product from a once-weekly reporting cadence to a daily one, so clients receive viewership data each business day. The company announced the change on 22 September 2026.
- Product: Streaming Content Ratings, launched in 2017
- Change: weekly delivery becomes daily, on every business day
- Speed: data delivery time reduced by up to 80%, covering viewing that occurred two days earlier
- Effect: streaming insights now arrive at the same speed as linear TV data
- Also: the weekly Streaming Top 10 reporting delay is cut in half
- Nielsen said it expected to publish its first accelerated Top 10 on 17 September 2026, covering the 31 August to 6 September measurement interval
What Changes In Streaming Content Ratings
The reporting lag. Clients now receive data each business day for viewing that occurred two days prior, which Nielsen says aligns streaming insights with the reporting speed of linear TV and provides a more unified measurement narrative.
Brian Fuhrer, senior vice president, product strategy and thought leadership, said that while Nielsen has made a number of material improvements to streaming measurement over the years that have broadened and deepened platform and programme coverage, this may be the most significant enhancement to Streaming Content Ratings since its launch in 2017. He added that as the speed of change across the media landscape increases, providing clients with more immediate, up to date audience data helps them keep pace with the consumer.
What Else Nielsen Has Changed Recently
The company lists national TV measurement enhancements with expanded co-viewing insights, marketplace adoption of Big Data plus Panel measurement in 2025, first-party data integrations powering live streaming measurement, and a nationwide expansion of out-of-home measurement. It also continues to publish The Gauge and the weekly Streaming Top 10 rankings.
