Dentsu Creative Isobar has secured the digital and e-commerce mandate for Canon India's Imaging Consumer Business (ICB). The account will be run from the agency's Mumbai and Gurgaon offices, covering digital and e-commerce strategy across media, data, consumer insights and digital retail.

  • Agency: Dentsu Creative Isobar
  • Client: Canon India, Imaging Consumer Business
  • Scope: digital and e-commerce strategy, spanning media, data, consumer insights and digital retail
  • Offices: Mumbai and Gurgaon
  • Focus areas: consumer journeys, conversion, and initiatives across digital and retail channels
  • Nature of the win: an expansion of an existing relationship rather than a new client

Media and Commerce in One Brief

The structural point in this mandate is that media and e-commerce sit inside the same remit rather than being split across two agencies. Camera buying is a long, research-heavy journey with a great deal of comparison and review-reading between first interest and purchase, and it plays out across marketplaces, brand sites and physical retail at once.

Splitting that journey between a media agency optimising for reach and a commerce partner optimising for conversion tends to produce two sets of numbers that do not reconcile. Putting both under one roof is the current industry answer to that, and it is why briefs of this shape have become more common.

What Both Sides Said

Vishesh Magoo, Assistant Director and Head of the Camera Business Unit at Canon India, described the collaboration so far as extremely encouraging and said the company looks to build on the momentum, pointing to a sharper focus on integration across media and commerce.

Sahil Shah, CEO of Dentsu Creative Isobar, said the agency is expanding its relationship with Canon India through a more integrated approach to media and commerce, and that as consumer journeys evolve the ability to connect creativity, data and commerce becomes increasingly important.

Shanu Jain, Managing Partner at the agency, framed the win as earned rather than pitched, saying the expanded mandate reflects trust built through a partnership resting on performance and collaboration, and that the opportunity lies in creating experiences that bridge discovery, consideration and purchase.
