Insight Cosmetics has taken a mobile makeup vanity to Mumbai's Ganpati celebrations under a campaign called #MakeupOnWheels. The pink van has been stationed at pandals and on streets across the city since Ganesh Chaturthi, offering visitors quick touch-ups between stops.

  • Brand: Insight Cosmetics
  • Campaign: #MakeupOnWheels
  • Format: a mobile makeup vanity van in the brand's signature pink
  • Where: popular Ganpati destinations, pandals and streets in Mumbai
  • When: from Ganesh Chaturthi, through the festival
  • On board: a professional beauty advisor for touch-ups, festive looks and product recommendations
  • Spokesperson: Mihir Jain, director

What Insight Cosmetics Put On The Street

A beauty counter with wheels. Visitors step up to a vanity built into the side of the van, get a quick refresh from an advisor, try products across base, eyes and lips, and move on to the next pandal. The van's own livery does the rest of the work: a Ganesha illustration holding a makeup brush, a modak, and lines in Mumbai's own register, "Bappa cha beat, makeup on fleek" and "Morya cha josh, full glam mode".

Jain described the idea as making beauty accessible wherever celebrations take people, and the design is consistent with that. Nothing about it asks the visitor to go anywhere.

Why Utility Beats A Banner At A Pandal

Ganpati season in Mumbai is one of the most crowded media environments in the country. Every pandal approach is lined with sponsor boards, and most of them are invisible by the second day because nobody in a queue is looking for an advertisement.

A touch-up is a different offer. People visiting pandals are dressed up, photographed, and on their feet for hours in humidity, which is precisely when makeup stops cooperating. The activation meets an actual need at the moment it arises, and it puts product in hand rather than a logo in view.

The Trade-Off In A Moving Activation

A van reaches a fraction of the people a static sponsorship does, and it cannot be in the busiest spot all day. What it buys instead is contact: a few minutes of trial with an advisor, which is the thing a mass-market beauty brand usually struggles to get outside a store.

Whether that trial converts is the measure that matters, and it is harder to count than impressions. The brand's range is on its own site. More campaigns.
