- Recent recognition: Double Gold for GianChand Indian Single Malt at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition; Best Indian Whisky and Best Indian Single Malt for Adambaraa at the 2025 International Whisky Competition
What INNOCEAN India Takes On For GianChand
A three-expression portfolio that has to be explained one bottle at a time. The mandate calls for dedicated communication around Signature, Adambaraa and Manshaa, so that each has its own character in public rather than sitting under one brand name. That is a content job more than a campaign job, and the scope reads accordingly: calendars, education, provenance and reviews, with launches and awards amplified on top.
The provenance is the asset. The whisky is distilled and matured in Jammu, and the brand is named for the company's founder, Dewan Gian Chand. Monalisa Mandal, senior vice president of marketing at DeVANS, framed the brief as taking "the spirit of Jammu to a wider audience".
One Company, Two Agencies
The appointment splits the DeVANS portfolio across two agencies. Last month DeVANS gave Social Panga the digital mandate for its Godfather and Six Fields beers and Gingalalahu gin. The single malt now sits with a different agency altogether.
That is the right call for the category rather than a sign of indecision. A beer brand online is managing recall with a broad audience; a premium single malt is recruiting a narrower one that wants to understand cask, peat and place before it cares about a brand. The two need different teams, different registers and different measures of success.
Why Awards Carry So Much Weight Here
Direct alcohol advertising is not permitted in India, which leaves a spirits brand with a short list of things it can talk about freely. Independent recognition is near the top of it. A Double Gold, where every judge on the panel rated the whisky Gold, is a third-party claim a brand can share without making a claim of its own.
The risk is that the feed becomes a trophy cabinet. Several Indian distillers now hold international medals, so awards alone no longer distinguish anyone. INNOCEAN India's chief executive, Jaeho Yoo, said the brand has "a genuinely distinctive story to tell", and the harder part of this mandate is making that story matter to a younger, legal-drinking-age audience that may not yet think of Jammu as a whisky region.
Where The Agency's AI Pitch Comes In
DeVANS cited INNOCEAN's AI-first thinking as part of the reason for the appointment, and the agency has been building that capability publicly since launching its AI STUDIO in July. An always-on, three-expression content programme across several markets is exactly the kind of volume that tooling is meant to carry.
