Netflix Launches India Storytelling Initiative

Netflix has launched the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative, a multi-phase investment in India's creative talent pipeline, announced as co-CEO Ted Sarandos met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Focus areas: AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming and comics) skilling, accessibility training and partnerships with Indian institutions
- First-phase partners: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC)
- Scholarships: 100 in-person programmes at IICT covering character animation, interactive comics, virtual art department content creation, e-sports and gaming management
- Accessibility: An NFDC partnership to build audio-description and voice-talent programmes
"India's Next Generation Of Stories"
The initiative marks Netflix entering its second decade in India, a decade in which it says it produced more than 200 original titles across over 100 locations in the country. Sarandos said India "has always been one of the world's greatest storytelling nations," adding that "our greatest investment is in the people who tell India's next generation of stories." The announcement also included the India launch of Netflix's global NextGen Writers' Program.
