What Srijan Kapila's Route Says
That the skills feeding a streaming ad sales desk now come from everywhere. Kapila started at Star India in network development and carriage, moved through outdoor, then through digital sales at three news businesses, then to sport-adjacent partnerships at SonyLIV. None of those is the classic television sales apprenticeship, and all of them are now relevant.
Carriage management is the least obvious and most useful of them. It is the discipline of negotiating distribution, and a platform selling advertising across a very large subscriber base is doing a version of the same arithmetic.
Returning To The Group
He began his career at Star India between 2011 and 2015, so this is a return to the same lineage under a new name. That is common in Indian media, where the number of large sellers is small and people circulate between them.
