Sprite Tejas Express Begins A Six-Month Run To Delhi
The Sprite Tejas Express has begun a six-month run between Lucknow and New Delhi, under a branding partnership with IRCTC that puts the brand on the train and inside the meal service.
- Route: Lucknow to New Delhi and back, from August 2026
- Five coaches carry Sprite branding on the exterior
- Station announcements identify the service as the Sprite Tejas Express
- Sprite is included in the passenger food bundle
- Samples and branded merchandise were given out at the flag-off
What The Sprite Tejas Express Actually Buys
A liveried train is the visible part and the least useful. It passes a platform in seconds and most of the route is not watched by anybody.
The bundle is the actual purchase. Putting Sprite into the catered meal on a corridor service reaches a passenger who is seated, warm, several hours from arrival and not choosing between brands, which is the closest thing outdoor advertising gets to a guaranteed trial.
Why This Corridor
Lucknow to Delhi is a working route rather than a tourist one, carrying business, leisure and family travel on a schedule people repeat. A six-month term on a repeated journey buys frequency against roughly the same population.
Abhishek Gupta, vice president, customer development at Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, framed the deal as expanding presence across the travel ecosystem and building longer-term customer relationships.
What IRCTC Gets
Ajit Kumar Sinha, chief regional manager for IRCTC’s Lucknow division, positioned it as part of enhancing the passenger experience on premium services through relevant partnerships.
For the railway operator, non-fare revenue on premium trains is easier to defend than a fare rise, and a beverage in the meal reads to the passenger as something added rather than something sold.
The flag-off was attended by senior representatives from Indian Railways, IRCTC and Coca-Cola India, and further consumer engagement is planned across the six months. Whether it renews will depend on numbers neither party is likely to publish.
