Prega News Unpacks The 'NEWS' In Its Name For Independence Day

Prega News, the pregnancy detection brand from Mankind Pharma, has marked 19 years in the category with an Independence Day film built around a simple wordplay on its own name. NEWS stands for North, East, West and South, the four regions the film uses to show a family receiving the same news in four different ways.
- Brand: Prega News, pregnancy detection brand from Mankind Pharma
- Agency: FCB Kinnect
- Occasion: Independence Day, marking 19 years for the brand
- Scale: roughly one crore Prega News kits used every month across India, per Q1 FY27 data from an independent Chartered Accountant
Four Homes, One Emotion
The film travels across four homes in North, East, West and South India, each reflecting a distinct language and way of expressing happiness. In one, the news brings grandparents together; in another, it is shared with elders as a moment of respect; elsewhere, a couple shares it quietly between themselves, or a woman waits for the right moment to tell her husband. The expressions differ, but the anticipation, surprise and smile that follows stay the same.
Joy Chatterjee, Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Mankind Consumer Products, said India speaks in hundreds of languages, but the moment a woman learns she is expecting, the reaction is the same in every home, adding that for 19 years, Prega News has been in that room, across every state, made in India throughout.
Ankur Garg, ECD at FCB Kinnect, said the most powerful visuals are often the simplest, and that for this campaign, that visual is a smile, the one emotion that needs no translation across India's many languages, cultures and traditions.
The film closes by opening up the word NEWS into North, East, West and South, reinforcing the brand's presence across the country with the line "We deliver Good News across India."
