Deepak Singh, appointed partner director for India at OpenAI

OpenAI has appointed Deepak Singh as partner director for India. He will build and scale the company's go-to-market partnerships in the market, moving from Palo Alto Networks.

  • Role: partner director, India, OpenAI, responsible for go-to-market partnerships
  • Previously: senior director, enterprise business, India at Palo Alto Networks, from August 2025 to September 2026
  • Before that: head of enterprises, corporate segment, India and SAARC at Google, from August 2021 to August 2025
  • Earlier: India partner leader for the enterprise segment at Amazon Web Services, and before that a business development manager there
  • Also: partner business manager for north and east India at VMware, and earlier roles at Intel and Hewlett Packard
  • Experience: more than 23 years in enterprise, of which more than 12 in cloud computing and AI

What Deepak Singh Is Being Hired To Do

Partnerships rather than direct sales. In enterprise software the partner layer is what converts a product into deployments, because the systems integrators, consultancies and resellers are the people actually inside client organisations when a decision gets made.

India has that layer in depth for cloud and security. For AI it is still forming, which makes this a building job rather than a managing one.

Why The Background Fits

He has built the same layer three times. Singh was part of establishing India operations for AWS, Google Cloud and VMware, which is an unusually specific repetition of the task now in front of him.

His time before the platforms is relevant as well. Spells at Intel and Hewlett Packard put him in the hardware channel, which is where the Indian partner ecosystem was originally built and where many of the same firms still operate.

The pattern across those roles is early-market rather than mature-market work, in each case at the point where a global platform was deciding how seriously to treat India.

What It Signals

That OpenAI is staffing India as a commercial market rather than a user base. A partner director is a revenue hire, and it sits alongside the consumer visibility the company has been buying here.

Singh said he was excited to begin a new chapter, grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the journey ahead.
