Bajaj Finserv has signed the swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, part of its backing for athletes in sports that get little corporate attention. She is 16.

What Bajaj Finserv Is Backing

The years nobody photographs. Manav Mianwal, group chief marketing officer at Bajaj Finserv, said great sporting journeys are built long before the podium, and that the company wants to be there during the formative years.

That is a different proposition from the usual endorsement, where a brand arrives after the medal and pays for the association. Backing a 16-year-old in swimming carries no guarantee of a return, which is exactly what makes it worth noting.

Why It Matters For Indian Sport

Because the funding gap sits at this age. Ramakrishnan R, co-founder of Baseline Ventures, said Indian sport needs more long-term corporate support, especially for early-stage athletes, which is the structural point the deal illustrates.

Desinghu said she is extremely grateful to the Bajaj Finserv team for believing in her and supporting her at this stage. Her parents said the decision to support her at such a young age gives her the confidence and backing to focus.

The absence of a disclosed term is the one thing to watch, because long-term is the whole claim here and nothing published so far puts a number on it.
