Airtel Business has launched Airtel IQ Gateway, a network intelligence platform that pulls SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, business voice and number verification into a single control layer. The company describes it as DPDP-compliant.

  • What it consolidates: SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, business voice and number verification
  • The stated problem: enterprises running fragmented channels across multiple providers
  • Features named: real-time delivery visibility, intelligent routing, and automatic failover to backup providers
  • Integration: with Airtel's DLT message template system
  • Fraud tooling: IQ Verify for detection, and Silent Authentication for SIM-based number verification
  • Target sectors: banking, financial services, government, e-commerce and logistics
  • Deployment: on-premises or as SaaS on Airtel cloud
  • Showcase: India Mobile Congress, 7 to 10 October 2026

Why Airtel IQ Gateway Is Aimed At Procurement, Not Marketing

Because the pitch is consolidation and the buyer of consolidation is the person holding five contracts. A brand with separate vendors for SMS, WhatsApp and voice has three delivery reports that do not reconcile and no single place to prove a message was sent.

Automatic failover is the detail that gives it away. That is an uptime argument, and uptime arguments are made to risk teams, which is also why DPDP compliance is in the first line rather than the fifth.

What It Changes For Customer Communication

Mostly the attribution of blame. When a one-time password does not arrive, the current answer involves three suppliers pointing at each other, and a single gateway at least makes the failure legible.

Silent Authentication is the more interesting piece for marketers. Verifying a number against the SIM rather than by sending a code removes a step from every sign-up flow, and the drop-off at that step is one of the largest in Indian digital commerce.

What Was Said

Sharat Sinha, chief executive of Airtel Business, said secure-by-design customer engagement is today the bedrock on which enterprises can scale with confidence.
