VETO has secured exclusive OTT streaming rights in India for the Billie Jean King Cup 2026, adding a second global tennis property less than a year after the subscription-free platform launched.

  • Platform: VETO, India’s subscription-free OTT service, launched September 2025
  • Follows its recent acquisition of exclusive India OTT rights for the Davis Cup 2026
  • Now carries more than 60 live TV channels across 12 languages and over 10 genres
  • The Billie Jean King Cup Finals run in Shenzhen, China, from 22 to 27 September, with eight nations in the knockout stage
  • Two-time defending champions Italy go in chasing a third consecutive title

Why VETO Is Buying Tennis Specifically

The Billie Jean King Cup is often described as the Women’s World Cup of Tennis, bringing together national teams from across the world.

Holding both it and the Davis Cup gives VETO the two most prominent team competitions in the sport, and team formats are the ones that travel. A national side playing over several days produces a reason to come back tomorrow, which a single tournament draw does not.

What Live Sport Does For A Free Platform

Sport is emerging as a strategic pillar alongside VETO’s news, entertainment, movies, music, devotional and kids programming, with live events driving appointment viewing and repeat engagement, particularly on connected TVs.

For a service with no subscription revenue, that is the whole argument. Advertising needs concurrent audiences at a known time, and library content cannot deliver them. Live rights are expensive precisely because they are the only inventory that can.

India’s Own Campaign, And The Gap It Leaves

India hosted the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group I stage at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium from 7 to 11 April, finishing third in the six-nation group and retaining Group I status for 2027 after a 2-1 win over South Korea.

Managing director Ritu Dhawan said the platform was focused on building a differentiated subscription-free destination, pointing to 60-plus live channels, a move into web series and a presence across 12 languages inside a year.

The complication is that India is not in the Finals, so the rights have to sell on the sport itself rather than on a home team. That is a harder audience to assemble in this market, and it is the real test of whether tennis can carry a platform here.
