Delhivery Elevates Vani Venkatesh To Deputy CEO

Vani Venkatesh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Delhivery

Delhivery has elevated Vani Venkatesh to Deputy Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, widening a remit that already covered revenue to take in marketing and customer experience.

  • New role: Deputy CEO, Delhivery, effective immediately
  • Previous role: Chief Business Officer and Key Managerial Personnel
  • Joined: February 2025
  • Now leads: revenue, marketing and customer experience, working closely with operations
  • Earlier: CMO and CEO of Retail, Global and Delhi NCR businesses at Airtel; McKinsey, Unilever, Abbott Nutrition
  • COO Ajith Pai is leaving as part of the same reshuffle

Marketing Moves Under The Commercial Line

The detail worth noting is which functions were put together. Revenue, marketing and customer experience now report into one seat, and that seat works alongside operations rather than above it.

In logistics that combination is less arbitrary than it looks. What a delivery business promises in its marketing is settled by what its network can actually do on a given day, and the gap between the two is what customer experience spends its time absorbing. Putting all three under one executive makes that trade-off somebody's explicit job rather than a quarterly argument between departments.

A Marketer Who Has Run Businesses

Venkatesh is worth knowing for anyone in advertising, because she has sat on the other side of the table in the most demanding version of the job. At Airtel she was Chief Marketing Officer, and separately chief executive of the retail business, the Delhi NCR region and the global business.

That sequence is the unusual part. Marketers who become general managers are common enough; marketers who run a profit and loss line the size of Airtel Delhi NCR and then return to a role that includes marketing are not. Before Airtel she worked at McKinsey, Unilever and Abbott Nutrition, and she is a chartered accountant, a cost accountant and a company secretary alongside an IIM Bangalore management diploma.

A brief that reaches revenue, marketing and customer experience is exactly the shape of a career like that, rather than a promotion that happens to bundle three departments.

The Other Half Of The Reshuffle

The elevation comes as Chief Operating Officer Ajith Pai leaves the company. In a logistics business the operating chief and the commercial chief are the two seats that matter most, and moving one while the other departs makes this a redrawing of the top table rather than a single promotion.
