Subhajit Sengupta Returns To Times Network As Vice President

Subhajit Sengupta has rejoined Times Network as vice president and head of social media and video monetisation, taking up the role in September 2026 and based in Noida.
- Role: vice president and head of social media and video monetisation, Times Network
- Based: Noida
- Joins from: HT Digital Streams, where he was head of video and social media from June 2024
- Previously at Times Network: November 2021 to 2023, latterly as associate vice president for digital video strategy
- On that earlier stint: video revenue grew threefold
What Subhajit Sengupta Did In Between
At HT Digital Streams he ran the video business and its revenue through programmatic and intellectual property led monetisation, across Hindustan Times, Mint, Hindustan and other group platforms. His team of more than 80 people spanned social, editorial and video revenue, and the mandate covered YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and connected television along with emerging formats.
He also pushed an AI first transformation there, embedding generative tools inside editorial workflows. That is the second time he has done that kind of work at a large Indian newsroom, which makes it look less like a project and more like the thing he is actually hired for.
The Title Is The News
His previous Times Network role was associate vice president for digital video strategy. The new one is social media and video monetisation. Strategy has been replaced by monetisation in the job description, and that swap is worth more than the step up in grade.
Broadcast news groups spent the last several years building enormous social and video audiences and then discovering that reach on somebody else's platform converts into revenue only if someone owns that conversion explicitly. Putting monetisation in the title of the person who also owns the content is an admission that splitting the two did not work well enough.
What He Ran Here Before
In the earlier stint he headed digital video across Times Now, ET Now, ET Now Swadesh, Times Now Navbharat, Mirror Now, TN World, Sports Now and TN Plus, leading a team of content creators, optimisers and growth specialists, with video revenue growing threefold over that period. He also ran social media strategy and operations across YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and LinkedIn, and led the network's AI in the newsroom effort.
A returning executive arrives knowing which channels the group runs, which of them earn and which committees have to agree before anything ships. More appointments.
