SpeakX has signed MS Dhoni as brand ambassador and investor, fronting a campaign called Muh Khol, English Bol that goes after hesitation rather than ignorance.

  • Brand: SpeakX, an AI-powered English speaking platform
  • Signing: MS Dhoni, as brand ambassador and investor
  • Campaign: Muh Khol, English Bol
  • Creative: ZeroFifty Mediaworks, the Mumbai agency, as strategic creative partner
  • Media: a digital video series plus broadcast placements

The Problem SpeakX Is Actually Selling Against

Most of its users studied English at school. What stops them is not the absence of words but the expectation of being judged for the ones they choose, which is why the films are built on avoidance rather than aspiration.

Arpit Mittal, chief executive and founder, has framed it as people not being held back from participating fully by their spoken English. That is a more precise brief than teaching a language, and it is a harder one, because the product has to address a feeling that the learner will rarely name out loud. The company positions itself around speaking anxiety specifically, among people who studied English but avoid using it for fear of being judged.

Why Dhoni Rather Than A Louder Endorser

Aimed at urban Bharat, the campaign uses humour and recognisable situations rather than the anxiety it is describing, which is the difference between naming a problem and rubbing someone's nose in it.

Dhoni's line in the campaign is that confidence does not come from knowing more, but from putting yourself out there. Coming from a cricketer whose public register has always been understatement rather than performance, that reads as consistent rather than borrowed. His role extends into the product too, appearing to acknowledge learner progress and milestones inside the app, which is a more useful use of an endorsement than a face on a billboard. More campaign coverage.
