Samay Shah Elevated To National Sales Head At Sun Neo

Sun TV Network has promoted Samay Shah to National Sales Head for Sun Neo, putting him in charge of national advertising revenue for the group's Hindi general entertainment channel.
- New role: National Sales Head, Sun Neo
- Announced by: Bala Iyengar, Cluster Head, Sun TV Network
- Immediately before: Manager Ad Sales, West, at Enterr10 Television
- Earlier: ScreenMax Media, Sony Pictures Networks India, Zee Entertainment Enterprises
A Hindi Bet Run From The South
Sun TV Network is the dominant broadcaster in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, and Sun Neo is its attempt to convert that operating strength into a position in the Hindi general entertainment market. That is the hardest room in Indian television to enter, because the incumbents there have both the ratings and the bundled inventory that national advertisers are used to buying.
Which makes the national sales head of a challenger Hindi channel a more interesting job than the title suggests. The person in it is not servicing existing demand. They are arguing, deal by deal, that a Hindi channel from a southern network deserves a line in a media plan that already has obvious places to spend.
The Career Reads As Preparation For Exactly This
Shah arrives from Enterr10 Television, where he was Manager Ad Sales for the West, and his earlier stints run through ScreenMax Media, Sony Pictures Networks India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
Enterr10 matters most in that list. It built its business on Hindi general entertainment aimed squarely at audiences the large networks were serving loosely, and selling that inventory means selling reach the buyer has not already budgeted for. Sony and Zee supply the other half of the education: how the biggest Hindi buyers actually think, and what they expect a channel to prove before they move money.
Iyengar said Shah had taken on complex projects across regions and delivered against organisational goals during his tenure.
