Ravi Garg Moves From WhatsApp India To Meta's Enterprise Business In APAC

Ravi Garg has been named Managing Director, Enterprise Business, APAC at Meta, taking charge of the company's enterprise portfolio across Asia-Pacific markets.
- Role: Managing Director, Enterprise Business, APAC
- Company: Meta
- Remit: sales and growth across Business Messaging, Meta Business Agents and Muse APIs
- Previously: Country Director, Business Messaging and Payments, WhatsApp, from July 2021
- Experience: more than 30 years across technology, media, telecom and consumer goods
What Ravi Garg Is Taking On
The new remit covers the commercial side of Meta's enterprise tools rather than consumer products, and spans a region whose markets have very little in common with each other in how businesses and customers actually talk.
That is the difficulty. India arrived at business messaging through a particular set of conditions, and a playbook written there does not transfer cleanly to markets where the default channel is email, a super-app, or a phone call.
The Record Being Carried Across
At WhatsApp, Garg states having taken business messaging in India from nothing to more than a billion dollars in annual recurring revenue in under four years, a figure given by Garg rather than disclosed in company accounts. The relaunch and scaling of WhatsApp Pay UPI also sits in that period.
Before Meta came thirteen years at Microsoft, ending as Senior Director, and earlier roles at Nazara Technologies as chief operating officer, Sify as general manager, and Parle Agro as a senior brand manager. It is an unusually wide span for an enterprise sales leader, and most of it predates the category now being sold.
Why This Matters To Marketers
Business messaging is where a good deal of performance budget has quietly moved, because it collapses discovery, support and transaction into one thread. An enterprise leader for the region is a signal about where Meta expects that spend to come from next.
Announcing the move, Garg said business messaging has become a lifeline for Indians, and described being grateful for the opportunity to lead the business for one of Meta's largest regions. More people moves.
