What Priyanka Shah Is Inheriting
The four surfaces named in the brief do not behave alike, and that is the difficulty of the job. Connected TV is sold on reach and increasingly on measurement borrowed from linear television. Web and app inventory is sold programmatically and against declining display rates. YouTube revenue is a share of somebody else's auction.
Holding all four under one charter means arguing for the same advertiser budget in four different currencies. Her Zee years covered sales, linear media, branded content and digital, which is unusually broad for a media sales career and lines up with exactly that problem.
The Broader Move
Publishers have spent several years trying to consolidate digital revenue lines that grew up separately, and the group head title is generally where that consolidation lands. NDTV putting connected TV in the same charter as web and app suggests it is treating CTV as a sales problem rather than a distribution one.
