What Paroma Dayal Has Been Put In Charge Of
Getting brands into stories audiences have already chosen to watch. Entertainment and branded content sits between the people who own the audience and the people who want to reach it, and the job is to make an integration that neither side resents.
Dayal's own framing was about culture: "I truly believe that culture is the best currency to connect with audiences and touch hearts," pointing to brand-building through storytelling, culturally relevant ideas and partnerships.
The Route Here
Eighteen years, almost all of it selling. The start was television: a sales officer at NDTV in 2008, Web18 Software Services in 2010 as a senior sales executive, India Today in 2011 as a deputy manager, then advertising sales at Star India from 2012 to 2014. Viacom followed, from 2014 to October 2021, selling advertising and brand solutions.
Streaming came next, as associate director for MX Player and MX Takatak from November 2021, and then something different: senior client partner for Asia-Pacific at Quora, from December 2023 to April 2026. A question-and-answer platform is a long way from a youth music channel, and the stretch is the point.
Why The Fit Reads
Because branded content is a sales problem wearing a creative hat. Somebody who has spent a career on the revenue side of entertainment knows which integrations advertisers will actually pay for, which is a different question from which ones look good in a deck.
The move also sits in an agency that spans sport, gaming and live experiences, so entertainment sits next to the other places where brand money is going. Dayal thanked Yosuke Murai and Rohit Potphode for their leadership in a note on the appointment.
