Myntra Rolls Out Instagram Affiliate Commerce With Meta

Myntra has rolled out its affiliate commerce programme on Instagram in partnership with Meta, letting creators tag products inside posts and Reels.

  • Platform: Instagram, in partnership with Meta
  • Function: creators tag Myntra products directly within posts and Reels
  • Precedent: a Facebook integration live since June, under the Flipkart Group's Meta partnership
  • Claim: the first lifestyle e-commerce platform in India to do so

What The Myntra Rollout Changes

The distance between seeing something and buying it. Affiliate tagging inside a Reel removes the step where a viewer has to remember a product name and find it later, which is where most creator-driven fashion intent has historically been lost.

The adoption figures Myntra gives are the reason the company is treating this as a platform rather than a feature: over 1 million sign-ups on Instagram within a month, 200,000 creators already posting, and 1.3 million sign-ups with more than 650,000 active creators on Facebook. Since the Meta affiliate feature launched across both, Myntra states its community has produced around 3 million posts.

Why The Numbers Deserve A Second Look

Sign-ups and posts are supply-side measures. They say how many creators joined and how much they made, not how much was sold, and all of them are the company's own.

The figure that would settle it is the conversion rate on tagged products, which is not given. What Myntra does say is that the posts now drive notable traffic to the platform, which is a claim about the top of the funnel rather than the bottom.

The Festive Test

Myntra expects a 2X increase in creator posts over the season and states that creators across Instagram, YouTube and Facebook stand to earn 3X more through the Big Fashion Festival.

Tripling creator earnings during the sale is the clearest signal of intent in the announcement, because it is the one that costs money. A commission structure that pays more when volume is highest is how a platform finds out whether affiliate creators are a channel or a campaign.
