McDonald's Puts Its Festive Bet On The Week Before The Festival

McDonald's India West and South has launched the Spicy Patakha Range, and put its campaign somewhere most festive advertising does not go: the week before.
- Operator: Westlife Foodworld Ltd., which runs McDonald's restaurants across West and South India
- Range: Spicy Patakha Paneer Burger and Spicy Patakha Chicken Burger
- Agency: McCann India, part of Omnicom Advertising India
- Available from 11 October 2026, with prices Westlife states start at Rs 199 onwards, exclusive of taxes
Where The Spicy Patakha Campaign Is Set
Not at the celebration. The films sit in the preparations, which is the insight the work is built on: the joy of a festival begins long before the day itself. Cousins break off decorating for a burger. A husband and wife find a pause inside a punishing shopping trip.
The thought is carried as Tyohaar ki Taiyaari Mein Thodi Mazedaari, and it runs under the brand's existing Let's Family at McD platform.
Why That Is The Smarter Occasion
The festival day itself is the most contested advertising space in the Indian calendar and the one where a quick service restaurant competes worst, because that meal is usually cooked at home.
The run-up is the opposite. It involves travel, queues, exhaustion and gaps between errands, and the brand already owns that gap. Advertising into it asks for a visit the category can actually win.
What Is In The Burgers
Both combine smoky, spicy flavours with makhani-inspired notes, the paneer version on a spiced patty and the chicken on a spicy one, each with a smoky sauce in a soft toasted bun.
Akshay Jatia, Chief Executive of Westlife Foodworld, said the festive season is one of the most meaningful times for families to come together, and that consumers look for flavours that feel familiar, indulgent and festive.
Westlife states that Hardcastle Restaurants, its subsidiary, serves over 200 million customers a year at more than 478 restaurants across 78 cities.
