Lionsgate Play's Rohit Jain Launches Tiger TV With Rs 500 Crore Content Plan

Rohit Jain, Founder and CEO of Lionsgate Play, has launched Tiger TV, a service built for Punjabi and Hindi audiences in India and abroad.
- Service: Tiger TV, live 15 October 2026
- Investment: the company states over Rs 500 crore in content IP over three years
- Markets: 12, including India, the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
- Slate: more than 50 titles in the first year
What Tiger TV Is Set Up To Solve
Fragmentation. Tiger TV states it is addressing audiences who currently find Punjabi and Hindi content scattered across general services rather than gathered in one place, and puts the addressable base at more than 135 million households in India and over 7.5 million across diaspora markets.
Those are company figures, and the second number is the one that explains the twelve-market launch. Punjabi content has an unusually strong export market, and a service that launches in Canada and the United Kingdom on day one is being built for that from the start rather than extending into it later.
The Slate Is The Proposition
More than 50 titles in year one, with a Punjabi slate that includes Laal Salaam, Rubb Rakha, Jahankilla, Hanji Kaun, Janaur, Ikk Tu Hoven Mutiyare and Tu Te Punjab, and names including Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, Neeru Bajwa, Sonam Bajwa and Arminder Gill. The Hindi slate includes Jeevan Ya Bheema Con, Mantu Bhaiya Ki Dili Dezire, The Taj Story and Aakhri Sawal.
Fifty titles is a serious opening volume for a new service, and the Rs 500 crore commitment is what makes it credible past the launch window.
Why This Is A Departure For Its Founder
Lionsgate Play's position in India has been built on Hollywood programming, and Tiger TV extends the same operator's approach in the opposite direction, towards regional storytelling under a dedicated destination.
For advertisers the interesting variable is inventory. A language-specific service with a committed slate offers something general streamers cannot: an audience defined by language rather than inferred from it, in markets where Punjabi-speaking households are a known and reachable segment.
