Kketan Chopra has been promoted to senior vice president, commerce at WPP Media, a step up from leading commerce across North, West and East for the agency.

  • Previous role: Head North, West, East and commerce lead, WPP Media
  • Joined WPP Media in 2022 as North and East ecommerce lead
  • Experience: over 14 years in commerce media, marketplace, omnichannel and retail media
  • Before WPP Media: Jagat Pharma
  • Earlier: Jiva Ayurveda, Livpure, Intex Technologies, Orient Electric, Videocon Consumer Durables

Three Regions Becoming One Mandate

Chopra arrived in 2022 to run ecommerce for North and East, picked up West along the way, and now takes the discipline nationally.

The shape of that progression is the interesting part. Commerce started at most agencies as a regional add-on to media planning, staffed close to where the client’s trade teams sat. Consolidating it into a single senior role is what happens once the retail media budget stops being an experiment and starts being planned centrally alongside everything else.

Kketan Chopra Built His Career On The Brand Side

His background before WPP Media is almost entirely in-house: Jagat Pharma, Jiva Ayurveda, Livpure, Intex Technologies, Orient Electric and Videocon Consumer Durables.

That is a consumer durables and wellness run rather than an agency one, and it matters in commerce specifically. Marketplace performance is decided by listing quality, pricing, inventory and returns as much as by media, and those are decisions the brand makes. A commerce lead who has sat on that side has argued about them before.

Announced On LinkedIn

Chopra shared the news in a LinkedIn post rather than through an agency release, which has quietly become the standard route for elevations at this level.

WPP Media has been steadily naming senior appointments across investments, digital and client services in recent weeks. Read together, they describe a network filling out its bench in the specialisms clients are asking about, with commerce among the ones getting a dedicated seat.
