Lenovo Hands India Communications To Kiran Balasubramanian

Lenovo has appointed Kiran Balasubramanian head of communications for India, covering external communications, internal communications and analyst relations.

  • Takes over following the elevation of Shirley Coses Dsilva to Asia Pacific commercial communications lead at Lenovo
  • Over 23 years across corporate communications, technology public relations and analyst relations
  • Most recently director of communications at DigitalOcean
  • Spent six years at Amazon Web Services, including principal, public relations and PR lead for public sector and government, India and South Asia
  • Earlier roles at Accenture, Six Degrees PR and Synergy PR

Why Analyst Relations Belongs In The Job

The mandate spans external communications, internal communications and analyst relations, with Balasubramanian working alongside Lenovo’s leadership on its Hybrid AI roadmap across personal and enterprise AI.

Analyst relations is the least visible third of that and often the most consequential. In enterprise technology a placement in an analyst’s quadrant moves procurement shortlists in a way no press coverage does, and it is a discipline with its own cadence, its own briefing formats and a very small pool of people in India who have actually run it.

What Kiran Balasubramanian Brings

He arrives from DigitalOcean and before that six years at AWS in senior PR roles, having started in agency roles at Six Degrees PR and Synergy PR before moving in-house at Accenture.

The AWS public sector remit is the notable entry. Government and public sector communication in India runs on a different set of rules from consumer technology, with longer timelines and far less room for error, and it is a useful grounding for a brand that sells to both a shopper and a procurement committee.

The Portfolio He Is Speaking For

His remit includes strengthening brand affinity and strategic positioning across ThinkPad, IdeaPad, Yoga, Legion and Motorola. Announcing the move on LinkedIn, he noted that India remains a crucial growth hub for Lenovo across revenue, R&D innovation, manufacturing scale and supply chain capability.

Five sub-brands running from an enterprise laptop to a gaming machine to a phone is an unusually wide brief for one communications function, and the difficulty is not volume. It is that the same corporate voice has to be credible to an IT director and to a teenager buying a Legion, and those audiences share almost no vocabulary.
