Khyati Shah Elevated To President, Group Corporate Communications And CMO At Welspun World

Khyati Shah has been elevated to President, Group Corporate Communications and Chief Marketing Officer at Welspun World, adding the group communications presidency to the CMO title she has carried since 2023.
- New role: President, Group Corporate Communications and CMO, Welspun World
- Joined: October 2021, as Head of Group Corporate Communications and Vice President
- Made CMO: August 2023
- Earlier: India Today, Star TV Network and Dainik Bhaskar Group
- Before that: Ogilvy, Grey Group, Triton Communications, Beehive Communications, International Flavors & Fragrances and ICICI Prudential Life
Both Halves Of The Same Job
Corporate communications and marketing are often run by different people with different reporting lines, and the seam between them shows. Welspun has spent five years moving Shah across it: communications first, marketing added in 2023, and now a presidency that formally puts both under one person.
For a group spanning textiles, flooring, pipes and infrastructure, that consolidation matters more than it would at a single-brand business. What the corporate entity says about itself and what its consumer brands say to shoppers are different conversations, and they are easier to keep in step when one person owns both.
A Career Built On The Media Side
Shah arrived at Welspun in October 2021 from India Today, where she had been an AVP. Before that she spent a year at Star TV Network, also as AVP, and four years at Dainik Bhaskar Group as General Manager for brand and marketing.
Her record runs further back than the media houses. Earlier stints include Ogilvy, Grey Group, Triton Communications and Beehive Communications on the agency side, and International Flavors and Fragrances and ICICI Prudential Life on the client side.
That is an unusually complete circuit: agency, then client, then a decade inside the publishers and broadcasters that communications teams spend their time trying to reach. Knowing how a newsroom decides what to run is a different kind of knowledge from knowing how to write a release, and having done both sides of the pitch before that is rarer still.
She announced the move on LinkedIn.
