Jayesh Veralkar Leaves Dolby After Thirteen Years For A Record Label

Jayesh Veralkar has left Dolby after more than thirteen years to work full time as co-founder of Vinyl Souk, a UAE-based culture platform.
- Leaving: Dolby, joined August 2013
- Last role: senior marketing manager for the Middle East, Africa and Turkiye
- Joining: Vinyl Souk, full time from October 2026, hybrid from Dubai
- At Dolby: launched Dolby Cinema in the Middle East, led regional brand and partner marketing
- Vinyl Souk since 2023: more than 10,000 attendees across 50-plus experiences with 240-plus artists
What Jayesh Veralkar Is Leaving For
Vinyl Souk works across independent music, vinyl and the arts, running live events, education, a multi-venue festival and its own label, Vinyl Souk Records. The projects include Souk Sessions, Souk Lab, the Vinyl Souk Mini Festival and Made in the Emirates, a compilation series of UAE independent music.
The figures, which the platform states, are the interesting part. Reaching 10,000 people across 50-plus experiences is not a hobby, and a compilation series and a label are infrastructure rather than events.
Why This Is A Recognisable Career Shape
Marketing leaders who leave for a passion project usually leave for something that does not exist yet. This is the other version, where the thing already works and the day job has become the constraint on it.
The earlier career explains the appetite. Before Dolby came five years at Sony Music India as label head of DAY 1, part of the Sony Music Independent Network, and before that roles at IBM, Integreon, Star India's Channel V, and an events company of his own founding, Eventuality Inc.
What Was Said
Marking the departure, Veralkar described it as the end of an incredible chapter, held with gratitude for the journey and the learnings, and said what started as a passion project has grown into something deeply believed in.
The article announcing the move does not name other co-founders. More people moves.
