Subhadeep Chakraborty, promoted to head of growth across acquisition and engagement at the travel platform ixigo

ixigo has promoted Subhadeep Chakraborty to head of growth. The remit widens across acquisition, customer engagement and AI-led work in every division of the travel platform.

  • Role: head of growth at ixigo
  • The remit, as stated: paid and organic acquisition, customer engagement, and AI-led initiatives across Trains, Food on Train, Metro, Credit Card, and flight, hotel and bus cross-sell
  • At ixigo since: August 2022, joining as growth manager
  • The ladder: senior manager for growth in April 2024, then head of CRM and performance marketing in April 2025
  • Budget handled: more than Rs 6 crore a month in marketing spend
  • Results cited: monthly transacting users from 0.8 million to 1.26 million for ixigo Trains, and from 1.16 million to 1.7 million for ConfirmTkt
  • Also cited: a 204% year-on-year rise in iOS installations
  • Before ixigo: Fynd, FreshToHome and Ace Turtle Services. An MBA from IIM Ranchi and a BTech from the Institute of Engineering and Management

Why Subhadeep Chakraborty’s Remit Is The Story, Not The Title

Because it merges two functions that are usually at odds. Paid acquisition and CRM answer to different numbers, cost per install on one side and retention on the other, and putting both under one person removes the argument about which of them owns a user who came cheaply and never returned.

Adding AI-led initiatives to the same remit is the part to watch. It places the experimentation budget with the person accountable for the acquisition cost, which tends to produce fewer pilots and more things that ship.

What The Numbers Underneath It Mean

Train booking is a volume business with a thin margin, so growth there is measured in transacting users rather than in revenue per user, and both the ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt figures are roughly a 50% lift in that measure.

The 204% iOS figure is the odder one. In an Android-dominant market, chasing iOS installs is a deliberate move up the value of the user rather than the count of them.

What Was Said

Chakraborty said on LinkedIn the role will lead overall growth across paid and organic acquisition, customer engagement and AI-led initiatives, and thanked chief executive Dinesh Kumar Kotha for the opportunity, describing enthusiasm about building, experimenting and scaling the company's growth initiatives.
