- Role: head of sales, JSW Sports
- Previously: head of talent and consulting at JSW Sports, from July 2023
- Before that: general manager, commercial sales, from April 2017
- Started as: an intern, on a six-month placement that was extended

How Himanshu Sharma Got There
The entry point was fandom. Sharma became a Bengaluru FC supporter and joined JSW Sports as an intern about a year later, on a six-month placement that was extended by another six months and then became a first full-time job as manager, client servicing.
Of that beginning, Sharma recalls not having the faintest idea what the role meant, only knowing a love of the work. The starting age was twenty-two.
Why The Path Is Worth Noting
Sports marketing in India recruits heavily from media agencies and broadcasters, on the reasoning that selling sponsorship is selling inventory. The counter-argument is that the people who stay are the ones who understood the sport first and learned the commercial side second.
A career that runs from the terraces to the sales floor inside one organisation is the second model working. It also means the person now selling the properties watched most of them being built.
What Was Being Built Along The Way
The period covers Bengaluru FC's move from the I-League into the Indian Super League, the launch of the Haryana Steelers, and JSW's work with Delhi Capitals. Earlier, before JSW, came coaching roles at Inspiration Football Academy and Crest, pitch coordination for an India against Puerto Rico friendly, and an internship at Tata Motors.
Marking the move, Sharma described still learning, still building and still being obsessed with sport, and thanked mentors and colleagues for trusting a twenty-two-year-old with big responsibilities. More people moves.
