Geetanjali Jain Joins JioStar As Director Of Sports Marketing

Geetanjali Jain has joined JioStar as director, sports marketing, arriving after a spell of freelance consulting and, before that, two and a half years in brand strategy at Procter and Gamble.
- Role: director, sports marketing, JioStar
- Immediately before: freelance consulting
- Earlier: senior brand manager at Procter and Gamble, on the Oral-B manual toothbrush portfolio
- Before that: nearly three years at Nykaa Fashion, leading retention marketing
- Education: MBA from ISB, where she graduated as torchbearer
What Geetanjali Jain Did Before Sport
At Procter and Gamble she handled product, communication and packaging for the Oral-B manual toothbrush portfolio in India, ran the Criss Cross revamp and new launches in modern retail, and separately drove growth for the company's digital beauty platforms through search and display strategy. It is unglamorous, detail heavy brand work, which is precisely the discipline that scaled sports properties tend to lack.
The Nykaa Fashion numbers are the more striking part of the record. Over nearly three years leading retention marketing she delivered a 200 per cent increase in revenue contribution from CRM, lifted the three month repeat rate by 33 per cent and the six month rate by 38 per cent, and engineered a 40 per cent reduction in burn per order while pushing order values 1.8 times higher through a tiered coupon structure.
Why JioStar Wanted This Profile
Her earlier roles add commercial range. At Cure.fit she was a growth manager launching a multi brand grocery platform while running an Rs 30 million monthly packaged foods business growing at over 15 per cent month on month. At Google she managed an annual book of business worth more than 20 million dollars as a programmatic account strategist, was promoted within fifteen months against a team average of twenty four, and picked up a spot bonus for an employee survey initiative spanning three countries and more than 800 staff.
JioStar, as the merged entity behind some of India's largest sports and entertainment properties, needs marketers who can build engagement systems at scale rather than run campaigns in isolation. Retention economics, not awareness, is where scaled streaming and sports businesses are won, and that is the exact skill Jain spent three years proving at Nykaa Fashion. More appointments.
