Cummins India Hands The Managing Director Role To Gbile Adewunmi

Gbile Adewunmi has been appointed Managing Director of Cummins India Limited and India Regional Leader, effective 1 November 2026.
- Role: Managing Director, Cummins India Limited, and India Regional Leader
- Effective: 1 November 2026
- Also continuing as: leader of Industrial Markets within Power Systems
- Current title: Vice President, Power Systems Industrial Markets
- Base: Pune
What Gbile Adewunmi Will Be Running
The appointment is unusual in keeping both roles. Adewunmi continues to lead Industrial Markets within Power Systems while taking the India managing director post, rather than handing one over.
That structure says something about intent. Running a global industrial business and a country at the same time only makes sense if the country is where a large share of that business is going to be made, sold or engineered.
The Background Being Brought In
The work at Cummins has covered customers and partners across industrial sectors including mining, with power solutions at the centre. Specific areas named include hybrid-electric retrofit solutions, mining technologies, and offerings aimed at customer productivity, reliability and emissions.
Retrofit and emissions work is the relevant part for an India posting. The market question in heavy industry here is less about new fleets than about what can be done to the installed base, and that is the discipline being brought.
What Cummins Said
Jenny Bush, President of Power Systems at Cummins, described Adewunmi as a respected global leader with deep experience across the company, and said the positioning to lead Cummins India Limited and the India region was exceptionally strong.
Adewunmi said taking on the expanded role was an honour, and called India a critical market for Cummins. The company has not named a predecessor in the announcement. More people moves.
